Why this work, why now
AI is changing how people learn, work, create, and build businesses. Real participation requires more than an account and a prompt box.
It requires context, judgment, practice, and a trusted path from curiosity to creation. We turn AI from something happening around our communities into something people can understand, question, and build with.
The inheritance
David Harold Blackwell transformed statistics, game theory, decision theory, and dynamic programming—fields that remain deeply relevant to modern machine learning and AI.
His legacy gives a new generation a powerful truth: Black brilliance is already part of the foundation.

Born in Centralia, Illinois. He would complete his doctorate in mathematics at 22.
Joined Berkeley’s new Statistics Department as the university’s first Black full professor.
Became the first Black scholar elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
Received the John von Neumann Theory Prize for foundational work in decision processes and dynamic programming.
NVIDIA introduced the Blackwell architecture, named in his honor.
The learning pathway
Four connected movements take people from seeing themselves in the story to shaping what the story becomes.
Recognition
Meet the Black thinkers, builders, and innovators who belong in the story of technology.
Literacy
Learn what AI can do, where it fails, how bias enters systems, and how to protect privacy.
Practice
Turn ideas into projects through research, writing, coding, design, and community problem-solving.
Agency
Connect new capability to education, careers, entrepreneurship, intellectual property, and community solutions.
One ecosystem. Four paths forward.
01
Creative exploration, critical thinking, career exposure, mentorship, and hands-on projects.
02
Practical guidance for learning, privacy, and using AI at home and work.
03
Culturally responsive lessons, classroom tools, and responsible-use practices.
04
Applied learning for research, operations, marketing, and business creation.
The 2026 launch goal
Introduce 100 Black students and families to practical, responsible AI learning through discovery materials, hands-on sessions, and a clear next step.
Designed for evidence
Participants should leave able to explain, evaluate, create, and continue.
Describe core AI concepts in plain language.
Recognize hallucinations, bias, privacy risks, and limits.
Complete a project tied to school, work, business, or community life.
Leave with a practical next step for learning or application.
Trust is part of the curriculum

What we can say today
The program is being designed for Black young people, families, educators, and entrepreneurs. Final age ranges, geography, dates, capacity, and eligibility will be published before enrollment opens.
No prior AI or coding experience is expected for introductory programming. Each public offering will state its prerequisites clearly.
Not through this website. DTasker will publish a verified giving destination only after its campaign participation, receiving entity, budget, and donor disclosures are confirmed.
No affiliation or endorsement is currently claimed. Historical references are sourced for education and context.
